Who We Are
Hyperloop Manchester is a student-led engineering society at the University of Manchester. We design, build, and race Hyperloop pods at international competitions — giving students real engineering experience from day one.
What is Hyperloop?
Imagine travelling between cities at speeds exceeding 700 miles per hour, inside streamlined capsules gliding through low-pressure tubes.
Hyperloop promises to revolutionise how we move — cutting travel times dramatically while running on renewable energy. At Hyperloop Manchester, we're building the engineers who'll make it real.
What Drives Us
Three principles behind everything we build.
Engineer
We build real hardware. From levitation systems to structural design, every component is student-engineered from the ground up — no shortcuts, no simulations only.
Compete
We race against the best student teams in the world at European Hyperloop Week, pushing our pod — and ourselves — to the limit every year.
Inspire
We're proving that students can contribute to the future of transport. Every team member leaves with skills, experience, and a network that lasts a career.
Our Journey
From a blank page to the world stage.
Founded
Hyperloop Manchester is established at the University of Manchester — a small group of students with a big ambition.
First Pod Design
The team completes its first full pod design cycle, building foundational knowledge across mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
Top 5 at European Hyperloop Week
Our biggest result to date — placing Top 5 globally in levitation at EHW, competing against teams from across Europe.
Redesigned Pod
A fully rebuilt pod with advances in propulsion, braking, and structural engineering enters competition.
Most Ambitious Pod Yet
100+ members, 8+ subteams, and our most technically advanced pod entering EHW. The journey continues.
Why Join Hyperloop Manchester?
